Fari, a 12-year-old boy, looks up to his older brother Danford, who fishes daily with their father. When their father falls ill, Fari takes his place, despite not knowing how to swim. Venturing further out to sea, the brothers face a perilous test of manhood.
“Majini” means “forbidden water" - That's why I focus on creating a title design and an ending sequence that deeply engage with this theme. This motif reflects the dangers young men face in the story and the importance of vulnerability in a harsh environment. My title design will use watercolors that symbolically blend into the water, representing the fluid boundary between strength and vulnerability.   This film really stands out. It's not just a movie; It’s a German-Tanzanian collaboration, diving deep into Tanzania's real issues like child labor and toxic masculinity. It's emotionally rich, offering a fresh take on masculinity and the pressures young people face. My ending credits idea: A dangerous underwater world reflecting the younger brother’s journey. I plan to visualize scenes that highlight the beauty and danger of the sea, like fish caught in nets and a struggle in the realm of sea monsters, all in deep blues and turquoise with orange accents. The goal is to emphasize the film's emotional and thematic depth through these visual elements, offering viewers a thoughtful and visually engaging experience.
