As Britt and Norwen, the producers, told me the story of "Huldufolk," I was totally wrapped up. Five teens—both elves and humans—are on a mission to save it from a big industry tycoon named Skallagrimsson, who wants to destroy it. They need to get the people of Falinfjörður to believe in elves because, guess what? You can only see elves if you believe in them. “Huldufolk” isn’t just a show; it’s a whole family adventure about the power of friendship and believing in the unbelievable.
I sketched the final sequence, capturing the unique essence of our story—the mix of the elf and human worlds. Instead of strictly following the original illustrations, I chose a collage of paintings inspired by Brad Kunkle, using magical gold and silver colors. I created everything in Procreate and Photoshop.
These hues emphasized the central magical tree, its sparkling glow, and light reflections weaving through each scene. This elegant and whimsical design really brings out the series' themes of friendship, fantasy, and belief, enhancing the mystical, fairy-tale vibe. For me, it felt like a magical journey on paper.
